Life in the 21st century has afforded us several comforts and advantages. On the other hand, it has brought forward several expectations and challenges, as well. Competition has become a way of life, whether it is for students or for working individuals. The expectation from everyone is to excel at work, excel at home chores, excel at relationships, excel at parenting, excel at socialising …. Phew!!!! So much excelling!!!

This constant pressure to perform to perfection has understandably led to stress, anxiety, sadness, low-self esteem, exhaustion and conflicts with our loved ones. Though you may realise that to address these afflictions in your lives, it would be advantageous for you to consult a therapist, you find yourself forever running to meet your commitments. Going to a therapist becomes out of question because you are required to travel, and, at times, that can mean being stuck in traffic jams. Or, if you live abroad, it can leave a huge hole in your pocket!

So, in today’s age, Online Therapy is the modern day solution to a lot of modern day problems! And, if confidentially is your concern, then this completely eradicates the stigma, because this involves no risk of running into anyone at or near the therapist’s office!

Here are some examples of effective online therapy sessions conducted by me.

London: Sanya Jindal (name changed), an assistant buyer at a luxury brand, wakes up at 5:00 am in London once every week for a video therapy session with me. She originally started therapy with me because of her “inability to manage her emotions and a deep feeling of sadness”, as she had put it. Gradually, she shared how she felt like a misfit wherever she was; whether with her family back in India, her boyfriend in London, or at her job that she loved more than anything.

Her thoughts on therapy with me: “Dr. Malik is a very insightful and observant person. Talking to her is such an easy and stress free process. She helps you reflect over your problems and assists you in understanding what is the central issue as well as how best to approach the issue.  She encourages you to think about yourself and prioritise yourself whenever its needed. What is interesting is that she has creative ways of taking you through a process of discovery”.

Hyderabad: Rohini Iyer (name changed), a software engineer by profession, takes a long lunch break once every week to discuss her issues with self harm, low self-esteem and a lack of self-worth stemming from work stress. She permanantly lives in Hyderabad and does video sessions with me. Gradually, through our work, she has come to feel an ease in understanding her feelings and emotions, expressiing herself and developing trust.

Her thoughts on her experience with me: “Thank you for everything. I mean you have helped me much more than you realise. Plus I do trust you a great deal and that’s not cause of the confidentiality, which as you know is not common for me. So really thank you isn’t even close enough

Singapore: Mohammed and Zaara Khan (name changed) come back from work and Skype with me once a week. The reason for them to seek therapy was that they were not happy with their marriage and wanted to improve it.

Few months later Mohammed’s thoughts on therapy with me: “Dr. Lubhana’s expertise about young couples helped me understand my partner’s expectation of me and vice versa. We were made to think in several directions about one another, which I had never done before. Everything was completely confidential which helped us to be honest and accurate about our feelings as she comforted us in opening up to her. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I came out of it as a better human being.”

Process of Online Therapy

  1. To book an appointment, you can simply call/email/text.
  2. Transfer the session fee once the appointment is fixed.
  3. Do a video call (Facetime/Skype/Whatsapp) with the therapist at the day and time of your appointment.

It is as simple as that! So no waiting in jams, no wastage of fuel!!!
